You don't know what you can achieve until you try it ...

by Banana Crumble | Feb 19, 2018

Nick Vujicic was born in 1982 with no arms and no legs. This deformity was a shock to his parents and also to the doctors. Due to his unusual appearance Nick was bullied at school and constantly teased.  At the age of 10 he tried to commit suicide. He has said

“I felt I had no value and thought I would always be a burden to my parents and never get married”

Nick struggled to do many things but his father told him “You don’t know what you can achieve until you try it”. This spurred Nick on and he now is able to swim, fish, play golf, surf, snowboard and play the drums. All absolutely inspirational . Nick wants to prove to the world that you don’t need limbs to follow your dreams. Nick met a child with a very similar disability to himself and it made him realise that he had a calling to help others. He felt that through his life and experiences he could help the other lad and then in turn others. At 19, John started to make inspirational speeches and today has travelled the world to over 50 countries talking and making a difference. Nick married at 30 and today has four children.

Having watched a video about Nick there are so many inspirational quotes throughout but the one that seems to resonate with us here at Banana Crumble is “I have the choice to be angry for what I don’t have or be thankful for what I do have”. This is something that we feel enables people to make a real difference. To watch the same video click here

Nick spread his message of love and faith and talks to thousands of people. He tells them that for every disability you do have you are blessed with more than enough abilities and that if you can’t get a miracle become one.

Nick has said up his own not for profit organisation called Life Without Limbs. How one man can make such a difference and prove to all people that we all have things to be grateful for is a truly remarkable story and one that we are proud to share.
