A classy gesture from a classy player.

Raheem Sterling used to play for Liverpool FC and now plays for Manchester City. He was loved at Liverpool but when he went to his new club the Liverpool fans said that he only had changed clubs as he wanted the extra money and they felt he had let them down. Every time he has played against Liverpool the fans have shown their anger towards him by booing every time he appeared, touched the ball or even had his name announced.

In the Community Shield when the two teams came together, Raheem Sterling scored  and also converted a penalty despite the boos. After the game whilst his team celebrated the victory Raheem Sterling went to both sets of fans and had his photo taken with fans from both teams as well as signing autographs. He also gifted his shirt to a young Liverpool fan. A classy gesture from a classy player.

Forget the trophy, this meant a lot more to Henderson than that…

Jordan Henderson captained Liverpool FC to Champions League glory on Saturday night when they played against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.

Jordan Henderson’s father had been diagnosed with throat cancer and had, unselfishly, told Jordan not to visit him whilst training for the big game. So to be able to win a Champions League medal with his dad watching must have made a memorable evening even more special. Pictured below is the moment that Jordan Henderson broke down in tears after the game as he ran and hugged his dad in the crowd with his winners medal around his neck!

What a beautiful moment between father and son and we wish Jordan’s father a speedy recovery.

Who are Bertie and Bella ?

Often so many of our historic buildings are hidden away from public view. However the iconic Liver Building will be open to the public in Spring 2019.

Visitors will be able to hear the tale of Bella and Bertie, the two famous Liver birds. It is said that Bertie is supposed to represent a man working away from home on the cargo ships and Bella the family he left behind.

The building was first opened in 1911 and has never been opened to the public but that is about to change. The Liver Building is one of the first ever skyscrapers and visitors will be able to go right to the top to see the amazing views over the city and to find out more about the history of this remarkable building.

We have so many amazing places to see in the United Kingdom and certainly have lots to be proud of.
