In times of adversity people come to the fore

Everyone was so sad to hear that Thomas Cook had gone into liquidation not just because it is a household name and been around for ever but more so because of all the people that have lost their jobs and holidays. The tales of people losing wedding bookings and missing out on long standing plans and holidays is really heart rending. This surely is a story that can’t have any good news but again it is in times of adversity that we hear stories of those willing to help and it is these that make our good news.

The Billericay Theatre have offered all the staff and their families that worked in their Essex High Street tickets to this Christmas’s pantomime. Southend’s Independent stationery store LPC have offered all local Thomas Cook employees the chance to have twenty free copies of their CV printed off. These acts of kindness and generosity may well help people to find new employment and give some light relief in a time that may otherwise be difficult to so many. We thought mentioning these companies may help them receive some good publicity as a small recompense for their kindness and show that there can still be some positive news on really difficult days.
