Join our priority guest list..

In our last feature we told you the great news that we have been able to rearrange our Banana Crumb-Ball and it is taking place on Saturday 9th October 2021. Even better news is that we have been able to confirm not only the same great location but also the same live band that we had booked for this year. Debbie at White Lace Events has also agreed to dress the marquee for us and we all know what a great job she did for us last time so we are looking forward to what she will do in 2021.

We have already had several messages asking about the Ball and if people can put their names down on the list to reserve a space. Considering the event is over a year away this hopefully bodes really well when we come to sell our tickets. Tickets will still be £50 and it will be a three course meal with a welcome drink plus the live band and then dancing to a DJ.

If you would like to put your name down on our guest list to reserve a space email us at: amandaaustin@bananacrumble.co.uk and we will make sure you are at the top of our guest list and ensure that you get priority tickets when they go on release. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be a really great event and one that will hopefully raise lots of money for the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association.

Save the date:

As you all know we had no option other than to postpone the Banana Crumb-Ball that was supposed to be happening in September 2020.We were really disappointed as we wanted to build on the momentum from the great event we held in 2019 and to raise even more funds for the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association.

The good news is that the Halfway House have agreed to delay our event and we have now got a new date of Saturday 9th October 2021. We know it is a long way in advance to give you notice but hopefully if it goes in your diaries now then you will be able to keep the date free.

We really hope that 2021 will be the perfect year for a huge celebration and it will be great to be able to dress up, party and raise some much needed funds. We will obviously be sending out details closer to the time but we wanted to make sure that you had the new date as soon as it had been confirmed.

Looking forward to a bigger and better Banana Crumb-Ball in 2021. We hope to see lots of you there. We raised almost £5000 in 2019 and are hoping that we can raise something similar next time. Thank you to all of those who had said they would attend in 2020 and we hope that you will join us in 2021.

Watch this space!!!

As the weeks of social distancing increase and time is racing by we have had to make a decision about the Banana Crumb-Ball. Whilst we all really want the event to go ahead and to raise much needed funds for the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association, after discussion with the charity, potential attendees and the venue we have decided to postpone our ball. In particular with the charity being for Cystic Fibrosis and this is the category where shielding has to be taken into account making large events for families difficult until things get back to normal again.

We were all looking forward to another great evening but by it being postponed for a year it gives us more time to come up with bigger and better ideas and hopefully by then everyone will be in the mood for a great party. After living in tracksuits and sports gear for months this will be a perfect opportunity to dress up and will be something to look forward to.

The new date will be a Saturday in September 2021 so we hope to be able to let you know the exact Saturday very soon so that you don’t miss out on all the fun and of course to help raise funds for the SCFA.

The venue has been great and are honouring prices agreed which is great news so we will be able to keep ticket prices at £50.

Watch this space

A few weeks ago we were really excited to announce that our second Banana Ball will take place on Saturday 26th September at the Halfway House, in Brentwood. People have been asking what are our plans for the event, so we thought this would be a good opportunity to keep you up to date.

We have obviously got the venue, band and marquee decorating all booked and deposits paid. We have no idea what will be happening in September but we are hoping that everything will be back to normal then and that our event will go ahead as planned and by that time everyone will be in need of a party to celebrate. Obviously things may change in the meantime but we will keep you posted as and when we know any further information.

In these unusual circumstances we are not taking money in advance but if you would like to put your name down so we have an idea of how many tickets we have sold that would be great and that in celebrating we will be able to help those with Cystic Fibrosis. Remember that people with CF are in the vulnerable group and have been told to self isolate for 12 weeks so the funds for the charity will be needed more than ever.

Stay safe everyone and hope that when September comes you will all be in need of a celebration and that you will be able to join us.

Such stunning photos…

Back by popular demand is our Banana Crumb-Ball which is being held on Saturday 26th September at the Grand Marquee, Halfway House, Brentwood, Essex.

We have started to bring everything together and are really pleased to say that the photographer we used last year will once again be at our event. The photos that were taken last year were absolutely amazing and so many people commented on them. Our photographer, Harry Monk was from  Liam Gillan Photography. Harry is the Creative Essex Manager and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him or Liam. You only have to look at the photos to see that they captured the event perfectly.

All of the photos on the websites are absolutely amazing , we think the legendary veil wedding photos are stunning so if you are looking for a wedding or event photographer for you , your family or friends. Get in touch with either of them, I am sure they would love to hear from you.

The Banana Crumb-Ball is back!!

Last October we ran the first Banana Crumb-Ball which was a huge success and we raised over £4800 for the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association. On the evening and since people have been asking when we are running the next one. It has taken us a few months to put things into place but back by popular demand is the second Banana Crumb-Ball.

The event will be held on Saturday 26th September 2020 at :

The Grand Marquee, which is at the Halfway House, Brentwood, Essex. CM13 3LL
This is at the junction of the A127 and A128

I know that we have members from all over the country but if any of you that are Essex based and fancy the chance to put on a dinner suit or posh frock then look no further it would be great if you could come and join us and to help raise funds to help with the fight for Cystic Fibrosis.

Tickets are £50 a head and it includes a three course meal, welcome drink, live entertainment and a DJ. The event is 6.30 for a 7.15  sit down and carriages are at 1am. More information about the evening will follow shortly.

Tables take between 8 and 12 people so if you can sort out a table then this would be great. If you can’t get a full table don’t worry we will be able to find a table for you to join. There are 150 places to fill so to avoid disappointment please get in early and reserve your tickets.

We will be having auction items, a raffle and other events during the evening. Last year’s Ball was such a success and we are really hoping that 2020 will be bigger and better and help to raise even more funds. To reserve your ticket please email amandaaustin@bananacrumble.co.uk

Breakfast, tea, coffee and a cheque!!

Back at the beginning of October we held our first Banana Crumb-Ball where we were giving all monies raised to the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association. We all had an absolutely fabulous evening and were so proud to have raised £4808.35 to give to the SCFA.

We wanted to wait until we had all of the monies back from all different things on the evening and are really pleased to have been able to hand the money over to Lisa Hyde of the SCFA and her daughter Sophia, who has Cystic Fibrosis.

Sophia has been featured in our articles and is truly inspirational. She runs, swims, dances, cycles and in fact does absolutely everything with such determination, including chat about Harry Potter. I think Matt met his match on the Harry Potter knowledge front!!! We had such a great evening back in October and to be able to hand the money over and to hear about the real difference it will make to people made all the hard work worthwhile.

Will we run another one – watch this space?

None of this would have been possible without the help of all the people who gave money, bought raffle tickets, came along on the evening, donated raffle and auction prizes. It really was a great team effort and one that hopefully has made a big difference to so many people.

What on earth has happened to my hair …… ?

Following on from our theme several articles ago about how things are not always as they seem. As we are sure everyone now knows we held the Banana Crumb-Ball on the 5th October. Everything was sorted and we had checked the final details for what seemed like ages and were literally counting the minutes until the event got underway.

We were all ready and thought to celebrate all the hard work everyone had put in we would open a bottle of bubbly and toast to what was hopefully going to be a successful evening and keeping our fingers crossed that everyone was going to have a great time. The drinks were poured and of course we had to have the obligatory photograph. As soon as the photos are taken – what do you do but look at them!!! I looked at one and suddenly had a bit of a panic. What on earth had happened to my hair, why was it sticking out so much? On further inspection my hair was fine and the sticky out bits were actually the plant directly behind me!! Good job I am not taking my self too seriously lol!!

To bad hair days, spiky plants and a good sense of humour!!

Fabulous decoration at the Banana Crumb-Ball

When we decided that we would run a charity ball it was a huge challenge as none of us had ever been involved with organising anything like this before. There is a lot of trust in the people that get recommended to you and sometimes you just need to go with their suggestions and ideas.

At our very first meeting with Debbie from WhiteLace Events Essex I was asked about the event and what we wanted to achieve and the sort of thing we were looking for. We explained that all the money was to go to The Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association and that there had to be a banana theme as it was The Banana Crumb-Ball.

The comments about how the hall looked have been fantastic. The Marquee was decorated using the colours of the SCFA as were all the balloons on the table giving us the exposure to the charity along with a bright, fun, vibrant atmosphere that we wanted to achieve. I think from the photos you can see the attention to detail was amazing.

Where did the bananas come in ? All of the balloons were held in place with bunches of bananas, and there were of course bananas around the marquee in strategic places. It could have been tacky but it wasn’t and this was down to all of the hard work that Debbie and the team put into helping us with our event. If we do another event like this then I know for sure that Debbie would be my first port of call. If any of you need someone to help with your event then definitely give Debbie a shout. Absolutely nothing was any trouble and I know in some of the stressful moments that did inevitably occur it was Debbie who was the calming influence and helped us in so many ways. I came up with an idea of having a thank you board so we could acknowledge the companies and individuals that had donated items for the raffle and auction. I didn’t have anything and with it being in a Marquee we couldn’t use the walls so Debbie took the pin board down from her daughter’s room so that we had something we could use and it worked really well and made sure that people had their names shown.

Thanks Debbie – what would we have done without you?

Oh What A Night …….

We are really pleased to say that our first Banana Crumb-Ball was an overwhelming success with hopefully everyone having a great evening. We have been sorting out the monies today and are just waiting on a last auction prize before we can give a final amount but at the moment we are really pleased to say that our event on Saturday raised just under £4000. This amount of money should make a real difference to the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association and we are looking forward to hearing how they plan on spending the money.

We all enjoyed a three course dinner, live music from The Hugh Rainey Dixieland Jazz Band which was all followed with lots of dancing to the Halfway House Resident DJ.

We would like to say a huge thank you not only to those who attended but to all those that donated raffle or auction prizes and helped to make the evening a success. Without the generosity of all of these companies raising this amazing amount would not have been possible so from all of us a huge thank you… We would like to say a really big thank you to Alton Garden Centre, Anna Holmes, Asda, Audi (Southend), BMW, C2C, Christine and Alan Hyde, Cut, Craft and Sew, Fortnum and Mason, Karl Miller, K. Mosby Financial Associates Limited, Liam Gillan Photography, Malibu Suncreams, Mangetout, Mark and Sarah Watson, Maria Nayler, Myatts Field Cocktail, Nekta Florists (Thorpe Bay), Old Southendian and Southchurch Cricket Club, Sam Brady, Sands by the Sea, Scott Hardisty and Pirtek Racing Team, Starstruck Autographs, Summerhill Garden Centre, Surf Restaurant (Chalkwell), Taylormade Chauffeurs, Validity, The Vanilla Room Hair and Beauty Salon (Hornchurch) who have all played a major part in either donating gifts for the raffle of for the fantastic auction prizes we have been able to offer.

A huge thank you to our Photographer Harry from Liam Gillan Photography – to see all our photos from the evening please click here. All photos taken on this evening have been donated free of charge by Liam to download. Simply select the photos you like and select download at the top of the page. Or alternatively you can pay for prints.
