Happy Diamond Wedding Anniversary….

Back in November, when we did our end of the war celebrations, two of our Banana Chatters were my Nan and Grandad (Maureen and Henry Austin). Today is a hugely special day for them and the whole family as they celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary (60 years). We thought that it would be really nice to wish them a Happy Anniversary from all of us here at Banana Crumble and get all of our members to do the same!

They were married on March 21st 1959 when Maureen was just 19 years old and Henry 25. They were married at Shoreditch Church in Hackney. The day of their wedding was the same day as the Grand National. In the car between the Wedding and Reception they listened to the race on the radio. The winner of the 1959 Grand National was Oxo and this is a story we have heard many a time!

My Nan and Grandad’s marriage of 60 years has been a real role model one for me that shows true love can make anyone happy and can last a life time! It makes me look to the future and hope that one day I will be celebrating my 60 year wedding anniversary and receiving my letter from royalty. No matter what they have been through they have done it together and I am so proud to call them my Grandparents!
