Kew Gardens to help Australia

It is amazing what can be done when nations pull together….

Kew Gardens have announced that they will be sending staff to the fire stricken areas in Australia that have been devastated by fire and that they will be collecting seeds to help with the work in rebuilding the local habitats. Seeds are to be collected and banked and then they can be germinated and replanted when conditions are right. Kew Gardens has said that it is working hand in hand with the Australian people and hopes that their efforts will in the future help with restoring habitats more quickly.

Kew Gardens has been working with the Australian seed bank since 2000 and it hopes that this will help protect Australia’s precious biodiversity following the terrible bushfires. It is amazing what can be done when nations pull together.
