With New Year resolutions in mind, we particularly liked this uplifting look at life through the eyes of some fictional characters from a top selling book. Hopefully it will help encourage you to keep those resolutions?
“The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse” sold over half a million copies to become the number one selling book of 2019.
The Winnie The Pooh type storytelling and pen and ink drawings offer a heartwarming tale of hope, kindness and friendship.
The drawings are mainly of the Boy and his many companions and the different conversations and questions they ask one another. One such question is used in our very own Banana Chats but no-one has ever come up with this answer:
“Is your glass half empty or half full?” asked the mole. “I think I’m grateful to have a glass” said the boy.
On one page, the boy asks the horse “what’s the bravest thing you’ve ever said?” and the Horse replies simply “Help”. If only more of us understood how important this word is, whether we are saying it or having someone say it to us.
And my personal favourite:
“Do you have a favourite saying?” asked the Boy
“Yes” said the Mole
“What is it?” asked the Boy
“If at first you don’t succeed, have some cake”
“I see, does it work?” replied the Boy
“Every time!” said the Mole
Definitely worth a read, whatever your age.
