Colwyn Bay FC were playing Trafford FC in the Evo-Stick NPL North football league match at Colwyn Bay when the accident happened. Trafford FC forward Danny Frost collided with a perimeter barrier after 65 minutes of the league game. He collapsed and then swallowed his tongue.
Linesman Zharir Mustafa gave lifesaving first aid to the injured player whilst they waited for Emergency services to arrive. The air ambulance was called but due to the horrendous weather, this was unable to land. Physios then had to lay on the pitch for 50 minutes supporting his head until the land ambulance could arrive.
Mustafa has since said that after the incident Frost wasn’t breathing when he got to him and said he opened the players mouth, pulled his tongue out and got him breathing again before putting him in the recovery position.
Frost was taken to hospital, where he was thoroughly checked over before being released.
This really is a Good News story that goes to show just how important First Aid training is…..
