Banana Chat - Meet Tim Ajayi

by Banana Crumble | Oct 24, 2017

My name is Temilolu Ajayi, but you can call me Tim Ajayi. I’m 24 years young. Born and raised in London, I later grew up in Essex before moving to Florida, US to study Economics and play Football. Since graduating I have found work as an Analyst for a Mergers & Acquisitions firm in the US. More importantly, I am an independent artist striving to share my music with the world. So executing this master plan is what I do in my spare time.

What is your favourite joke?
I was gonna tell a joke about Sodium but Na…

What makes you smile?
Seeing family and friends make progress in their endeavours

What is your favourite good news story?
A friend of mine made the decision to dedicate her post graduate endeavours to building and operating an orphanage in Ghana – now known as Project Nyame Nsa. This is a young girl, who does not lack privilege of any sort, actually sacrificing herself to the need of children who would otherwise have little to no support growing up. When I heard Project Nyame Nsa was materializing I was pleased to learn the lives of these kids were about to change for the better – all because of a girl with a huge heart.

What inspires you?
Having the ability and opportunity to inspire others by awakening them to self-empowerment.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Our society’s dependence on a Capitalist system. While I don’t necessarily believe in the existence of a utopian society, a lot of the world’s problems come from the cut throat economy we’re forced to live in.

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
The power to speak things into existence. Oh wait, I have that. I’ll have to go for invisibility then. A lot of good can be done by an invisible man…

What is your favourite food?
I would have to pick between a fresh plate of my Mum’s Jollof Rice or her Pounded Yam and Egusi Soup. Whatever meal includes more meat quickly becomes the favourite.

What is your favourite drink?
Water. Or a cupla cans of Kopparberg.

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
A grinder

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
Major Record Labels must have potential mainstream artists take an IQ test of some sort. What good is a dumb person in a position of power?

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
My entrepreneurial exploits began in High School, selling cookies. Many tried but I like to think I had the greatest market share!

What is your favourite phrase or saying?

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
I would actually like to promote my latest music project “Made for More”. This piece looks to integrate both UK and US musical influences, while painting a picture of my unorthodox journey thus far. I offer an array of thought provoking content and captivating flows over a wide selection of genres, from Grime and Drum & Bass to Hip Hop and Soul. This project not only serves to showcase my musical abilities but to also expose the listener to the concept of self-empowerment and visualization. It can be found on Soundcloud, YouTube and Audiomack, with a few singles soon to be released on Apple Music, Spotify and all other servers. Check it out. I hope you enjoy and feel free to let me know what you think!

Who is your favourite music artist?
Tupac Shakur. Cliché? I think not. His complicated yet inspiring personality and his passion for meaningful music, are traits I resonate with. With that being said, you can find the likes of Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Krept & Konan, Skepta and Lana Del Rey on my go to playlists.

Who is the person that you feel has shaped your life most?
Can’t choose between the two, but hands down Mum and Dad. Don’t even need to say much, I’m infinitely grateful
