What is your favourite Good News story?
This is my favourite Good News Story. It is about Sophia, she’s got CF. I asked her mum, Lisa Hyde, to do a little write up.
“Sophia was born a week early after a fantastic normal pregnancy. Paediatric doctors could see straight away something was wrong with her bowels. She was taken to GOSH and had an emergency operation for meconium ileus. After a month in hospital at GOSH we were released to come home. Unfortunately for us this was not to be the only operation she would have. She’s had 3 bowel operations, been under general anaesthetic more times than I can remember. She is one strong cookie though. She has never once complained about her condition or used it to her advantage. She is one of the fittest 5 year olds I know. She has been really healthy the past couple of years (few odd bugs, viral infections). She is at school in Year 1 and does so much exercise. She does ballet, disco, acrobatics, gymnastics, swimming, biking, running each week for at least an hour a day. She will this weekend take on her 25th park run. She is an inspiration. I don’t know any other child that does as much as she does. I am worn out running her around to all the clubs. We as a family have always been into exercise and healthy eating so I guess she was born into the right family for this condition. We know there will be dark days ahead but whilst we are healthy we give it 100%.”
