Banana Chat - meet Simon Grech

by Banana Crumble | Oct 10, 2018

Hi, I’m Simon. I recently co-launched SEASY – a 100% natural, vegan-friendly seasonings company. We aim to inspire people to cook amazing meals and lead healthy, fulfilling lives based on a positive relationship with food. Our aim is to be stocked in a major supermarket within 3 years, and the dream is to become the go-to brand for all-in-one seasonings. I obviously love cooking, I love people, and I’m a firm believer in appreciating the little things in life.

Our website has just gone live, so go check us out at

What is your favourite joke?
Who’s the coolest guy in a hospital? The ultra sound guy. That one always tickles me.

What makes you smile?
You’re out with your mates and an absolute banger comes on. They’re all singing along, some people have their hands in the air. No one has a care in the world. That moment makes me smile.

What is your favourite good news story?
I had a flick through them on Banana Crumble. My favourites are without doubt the incredible human beings who overcome hardship, stay positive and achieve great things.

What inspires you?
Just seeing people leading lives that make them truly happy.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
Ending world hunger. There’s enough food in the world for all of us – nobody should be starving.

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
I was tempted to go for one that could serve a greater good…but it would be too much fun to be invisible for a while.

What is your favourite food?
Asian food. Or Italian food. I also have a weakness for sugary cereals. I’ll happily smash a bowl at any time of the day.

What is your favourite drink?
Water, closely followed by coffee. That’s all I drink 99% of the time. I do love coffee though – I’m always buying new filter blends to try out. Currently on some rocket fuel sourced from Java, Indonesia. Great stuff.

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
I’d have to go with camera. We just invested in a Canon 80D for our SEASY marketing content and it’s magical.

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
I genuinely can’t top Mr Naqvi’s answer about all food establishments being obliged to give leftover food to the homeless.

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
One of my middle names is Luigi.

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
‘You don’t know what you need in your life until you figure out who you are’ – Jay Shetty.

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
Well our new business, SEASY, has just launched after a year of development/fundraising. If you want to start cooking better, healthier food, then go and check out our website!

Who is your favourite music artist?
Above & Beyond / Lane 8. Seen both live multiple times and each set is a melodic, emotional journey.

Who is the person that you feel has shaped your life most?
May be cliché, but without doubt has to be my parents. I’m so grateful to have been brought up based on their values, and now that I’m following my own path, they have been nothing but supportive every step of the way.
