Banana Chat – meet Sam Walker

This week’s Banana Chat is with our inspirational person of the week – Sam Walker – a 23 year old with a passion for sport who wants to be a football manager in the future….

Hi. My Name is Sam Walker. I am 23 years old and have a real passion for sport. I have been coaching different types of sport for over 7 years. My main passion is football and I would like to become a professional football manager in the future. I get so much pleasure from helping people. I coach players with special needs and this is an area that I find really rewarding.

What is your favourite joke?
What is the name of the lady who sets fire to her bills?
Bernadette

What makes you smile?
Plenty of things!! When training gets put into practice and that hard work pays off. I also love seeing skills develop and people improve.

What is your favourite good news story?
I always love other stories about people who have come from nothing and managed to achieve great things. For example, Tyson Fury overcoming his mental health issues and how he trained, went back into the ring and his success in the ring.

What inspires you?
Pep Guardiola really inspires me. His passion, his attitude both in victory and defeat. His overall attitude as a football manager. He is a man to man coach who is approachable. I have met him and his style of coaching really inspires me.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would stop people being homeless. I would ensure that everyone has warmth, shelter or a home.

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
I would have to choose transportation enabling me to get from one place to another. Imagine clicking my fingers and being on holiday!

What is your favourite food?
Calamari

What is your favourite drink?
A cup of tea – I really only drink tea and plenty of water.

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
Definitely a camera. Take photos of where I have been to create memories and give me things to look back on when I am older.

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
Again it is back to the homeless. I would provide shelter and a place for people to go if they don’t have a home. I also hate littering so this could be another option to have a law against this.

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
I once scored a penalty at half time during a football match at Upton Park. The West Ham mascot was in goal at the time. I scored and celebrated in front of all the fans – Absolutely loved this!!

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
A huge Only Fools and Horses fan so it has to be ” You know it makes sense”!

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
I have been involved in the setting up and running of a sports coaching business called Ager Walker Sports Coaching. Being involved with this enables me to pass on my passion for sport. We run one to one coaching sessions, birthday parties, group sessions for 5-11 year olds, special events for big football days (e.g. FA Cup Day, World Cup Day etc). Why not have a look at what we are able to offer.
