Banana Chat - Meet Rob Clark

by Banana Crumble | Jun 05, 2019

Hi, My name is Rob Clark and I am a badminton coach. I live in Collier Row, Essex and I am 24 years old. I have been playing badminton for about 13 years now and love coaching the sport. I like to spend time with my friends, going out, relaxing at home with my family and playing badminton.

What is your favourite joke?
Well I thought I’d keep it banana crumble related so here it is..

A banana crumble walks into a bar, the barman says, “sorry we don’t serve food”

What makes you smile?
Making other people happy and smile.

What is your favourite good news story?
I think seeing a place or a person struggling whether it be in a sport or life in general and seeing someone else help them and make them a better version of themself is always my favorite.

What inspires you?
As a badminton coach/player there’s quite a lot that does inspire me. The big one for me is is seeing kids enjoy the sessions they come to and enjoy playing badminton, that inspires me to be a better coach and to make sure they get the best out of me that I try and get out of them.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I think in the world at the moment there’s quite a lot of animosity towards everything and everyone and I think the world could do with a bit more happiness and acceptance of certain things going on in the world.

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
I would love to be able to fly. You could just fly anywhere you want, anytime you want and it would be a lot quicker to travel everywhere.

What is your favourite food?
Chinese food.

What is your favourite drink?
Fanta lemon

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
I’d have to take my phone. All my music, games and things to be doing around the pool are on there.

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
I think it would be a mandatory holiday a year. A lot of people don’t get the chance to go on holiday or spend time with loved ones so for them to have a holiday that they can look forward to without having to pay for it, anyone would jump at the chance to be able to do that.

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
I collect funko Pop Vinyl figures.

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
No worries

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
I would like to promote cancer research. A couple of my family members have passed away due to cancer so I would encourage people to donate to the charity as it is a wonderful cause and hopefully we can get rid of this awful disease.

Who is your favourite music artist?

Who is the person that you feel has shaped your life most?
There’s a few people I think have shaped my life. My dad and sisters being some as they are my family and have guided me through all of my life. Another person would be Amanda Austin who was my badminton coach growing up and is the main reason I play and coach now.
