Banana Chat - meet Richard Austin

by Banana Crumble | Jan 09, 2018

Hi, never thought I would be a Banana Consultant.  I’ve been called a few things in my life but never that. In all seriousness it has been great working alongside my son Matt and wife Amanda on this venture. They do all the work really and I just help when I can!

I was born in the East End, spending days out in Southend and now I live there!!

My passion when younger was cycling and I still help out now. I have even threatened to get back on the bike properly this year, but then I have probably said that for the past ten years!

Met Amanda through work and been married for 28 very happy years and lucky enough to have two great sons, Dan and Matt.  Dan got married this year meaning we now have a lovely daughter-in-law in Hayley.

I consider myself one very lucky person.

What is your favourite joke?
Since things turned sour with my wife a fortnight ago, I have taken to riding my bike 50 miles a day to clear my head. I’m now 700 miles away from home but feeling much happier!

What makes you smile?
Seeing people happy and enjoying themselves, whether young or old.

What is your favourite good news story?

What inspires you?

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
To be fair ….

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
These past few months have made me realise what a fantastic job The Cystic Fibrosis Trust do and how hard it is for those that suffer with it, but they all seem to get on and make the most of life

Who is your favourite music artist?
Paul Weller, you just have to listen to the words in his songs. They may have mellowed from his Jam days but still have meaning
