Banana Chat - meet Matt Pinnock

by Banana Crumble | May 16, 2018

I’m Matt Pinnock and, this year, I am Chairman of Southend Roundtable 106; this is a charitable organisation raising funds for local good causes while providing fun and fellowship for men aged 18-45. We organise the Big Beach Bang in Shoebury and the Colourthon in Chalkwell Park.

My focus for my Chairmanship is fundraising and I have set myself a target of £3,000. If this is met I will lose the beard! So, if you want me to beard-off then please visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Rt106.

You can find out more about Roundtable at southendroundtable.com. If you’re interested in meeting us and/or helping at our events then please contact me on Chairman@southendroundtable.com.

What is your favourite joke?
What sounds does a drum kit make when it falls off a cliff. Ba-boom-tish.

What makes you smile?
Satisfaction of a job well done, helping people, the sound of a cricket ball hitting stumps (not when I’m batting….)

What is your favourite good news story?
I think any demonstrating/reaffirming faith in humanity. There’s a lot of negativity out there and it’s nice to see something different, someone beating the odds or people being community minded

What inspires you?
Being able to help people.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
An eighth day of the week would be good, but I would most likely fill it up….

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
Does cricket ability count?

What is your favourite food?
Quite partial to a chicken madras.

What is your favourite drink?
Ale. I’m spoilt for choice with the number of local craft breweries that are popping up.

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
It’s usually the pile of books that need reading.

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
Boring, I know, but remove the domicile rule from taxation. Currently you can avoid tax on certain things by making another country your home even though you reside here.

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
I was filmed on TV falling over on Countryfile.

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
Þæs ofereode, þisses swa mæg.

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
I’d like to promote Roundtable and my year as Chairman (as above).

Who is your favourite music artist?
Reel Big Fish

Who is the person that you feel has shaped your life most?
There are many, but my wife usually knows best…

PJ’s or Not?

Hot or cold? Cold

Cat or dog? Dog

Blue or pink? Blue

Tea or coffee? Tea

Glass half-empty or glass half-full? Half empty…

Biscuits or cake? Biscuits

Wine or beer? Beer

Football or rugby? Rugby

Cinema or theatre? Cinema

Gym or TV? TV

Silver or gold? Gold
