Banana Chat – meet Maria Madren

This week’s Banana Chat is with our inspirational person of the week – Maria Madren a midwife for 29 years with a passion for cricket!

Hello my name is Maria and I am Southend born and bred. I work in healthcare – I have been a midwife for 29 years, working in the Community for 22 of them. I love my job, and I feel privileged to care for families through one of the most amazing times of their lives. It’s not just about delivering babies -that is just a tiny part of a varied and stimulating job. Unfortunately it is not always a happy outcome, which is why organisations such as sands.org.uk are vital in supporting those who lose a baby.

I am proud Mum to my 18 year old son Joe who is a keen cricketer and footballer and is as passionate about Old Southendians as I am. I am the regular scorer for the cricket 1st X1 , and an avid armchair sports viewer .
