Banana Chat - meet Leo C

by Banana Crumble | Dec 12, 2018

Hello!

My name is Leo C and I’m a 17 year old folk/rock n roll musician from Southend, Essex. I have released 3 singles this year, ‘Let’s Hear it For The Fascists’, ‘You’ve Got it all’, and my most recent ‘We Age’. My biggest aim in music is to expand myself and create art which is bigger than myself.

What is your favourite joke?
My favourite joke is myself!

What makes you smile?
I’m sure everything has the capacity to make me smile, especially my friends and family, but one thing that always can is Anderson Paak’s soothing vocals on ‘Anywhere’ feat. Snoop Dogg.

What is your favourite good news story?
A woman married Jesus Christ a couple weeks ago which is pretty fun.

What inspires you?
What inspires me the most are the concepts and the context behind some of the music I listen to, for example Kendrick Lamar’s album ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’. That album has encouraged me to take extra time to wonder what meanings I want to create through specific sounds and words. Also, the books I study in A-Level English inspire me greatly, I’ve written songs influenced by works such as ‘A Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood and ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ by Tennesseee Williams.

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
If I could change one thing in the world, I would make polar bears less inclined to rip your face off because they would be way nicer if they didn’t kill you.

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
I wanna be able to fly because I’ve always wanted to be a bird.

What is your favourite food?
My favourite food is garlic bread. Damn, it’s good.

What is your favourite drink?
My favourite drink is lime and lemonade, I have it at every gig I play at.

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
I would take my guitar, it’s not that luxury but it’s always there when I get some inspiration or need a bit of money!

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
I would increase the amount of money musicians get from streaming websites because artists should be given their deserved cut!

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
I would tell you some crazy stuff about me, but I don’t wanna get assassinated tomorrow!

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
My favourite phrase is “I love you more than Kanye loves Kanye”.

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
I’d love people to get behind local musicians more and help them grow and gain traction!

Who is your favourite music artist?
Of all time, my favourite artist has to be Bob Dylan. But at the moment, Kendrick Lamar is so amazing to listen to and watch create beautiful pieces of art.

Who is the person that you feel has shaped your life most?
Obviously, I have to say my parents. Without them, I wouldn’t have been turned on to music at all. I wouldn’t have been interested in creating art without my parents.

PJ’s or not ?

Hot or Cold? Cold, because I have the power to warm myself up with more clothes.

Cat or Dog? Cat. Shout out to my cat, Ruby!

Pink or Blue? Blue. It’s a much more calming colour.

Coffee or Tea? Coffee. I haven’t gone through my ‘Tea Phase’ just yet.

Glass half empty or glass half full? I like mugs more than glasses.

Pyjamas or not? Pyjamas. I absolutely love pyjamas.

Night out or Night in ?Night-in. I get nervous outside.

Pizza or Pasta ?Pizza. I love pizza.

Cake or Biscuits ? Cake. I haven’t gone through my ’biscuit phase’ just yet.

Wine or Beer ? Beer. I don’t like either that much but I guess Budweiser is alright.

Football or Rugby? Football. I don’t like either that much but it’s fine.

Cinema or Theatre? Cinema. I feel inadequate in a theatre.

Gym or TV? TV. I am not a gym-lad.

Naughty or Nice ? I try to be quite nice.

Silver or Gold ? Gold.

Tent or Hotel? I find it much harder to sleep in a tent but I do enjoy it overall. But I gotta go with hotel.

Bath or Shower? Bath. I used to only have baths before I realised I wasn’t that clean, but I do like a bath once in a while.

Starter or Pudding? Starters. I love the anticipation for the main meal.

Sheets or Duvet? Duvet. Sheets are just irrelevant.

LoveIsland or Game of Thrones? Love Island. There’s about the same amount of creepy nakedness in both shows! And I love trash.

Finally, Apple or Banana? I am so so sorry but I gotta go with a juicy apple.
