Banana Chat - meet Aimee Emery

by Banana Crumble | Feb 06, 2019

Hi, I am Aimee. I am a very happy go lucky person, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in April 2018 at the age of 21! Since then I have found a new job in a bank and am awaiting treatment for my condition. I love to go out with friends and my boyfriend but I’m more of a homebody so I’d always prefer a takeaway and X factor indoors! I love to draw in my free time and my dogs are my life! I am very positive and happy about my decision to start my treatment as soon as possible so my life can be much more happier and healthier!

I’m also writing a blog currently and I’ve attached the link below!!  The blog is to do with my journey with MS.

What is your favourite joke?
My dog used to chase people on a bike a lot. It got so bad, finally I had to take his bike away.

What makes you smile?
My family, friends and boyfriend make me smile on a daily basis.

What is your favourite good news story?
My favourite good news story is being told that although my first case of treatment was unsuccessful, I have now been signed up for a course of Lemtrada which is a type of chemotherapy to reduce lesions and further relapses! Which in my opinion is very good news!

What inspires you?
My mum inspires me every day, she copes with everything in such a strong way, without her inspiring me I wouldn’t be who I am today!

If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
If I could change one thing in the world I would probably change negative people, I would change the mind set of people to be understanding and positive rather than judgemental and negative

If you could have one superpower what would you choose and why?
I would be able to read minds!

What is your favourite food?
My favourite food is definitely a Nando’s!

What is your favourite drink?
My fave drink is a pornstar martini if we’re talking alcohol, if not then I love a can of coke!

If you are going on holiday what luxury item would you take from home?
I would take my hair straighteners!

If you could make one law, what would it be and why?
Nobody with a critical illness would need to apply for help from the government such as personal independence payment, you would apply but be awarded it without question and disbelief from the assessors!

Give us a random piece of information about you that people wouldn’t know?
I love to draw! It’s my one main thing I love to do!

What is your favourite phrase or saying?
Everything gets better with time!

What cause, project or event would you like to promote?
I would like to promote Multiple Sclerosis awareness! As this is something I suffer with and I feel not enough people know or understand!

Who is your favourite music artist?
My all time favourite has to be Miguel! And if you don’t know about him go and look him up!

Who is the person that you feel has shaped your life most?
My mum and dad have shaped my life the most by shaping me into the person I am today and always supporting me!!
