Arise Sir Tom

You are never too old to make a difference….

The public called for it and the Prime Minister put in a special request. Protocol out of the window as it is really unusual for Knighthoods to be given out at times that are not usually associated with New Year or the Queen’s birthday. Captain Tom Moore has been the story of this pandemic and has raised almost £40 million pounds once all of the gift aid money has been included. A total that will make such a difference.

He has, along with his family, launched a Foundation and this will be trying to combat loneliness, a cause close to his own heart. The link to the Foundation can be found here. He recalled the tale of his wife being in a nursing home who told him that if he didn’t visit she would have been really lonely. He spoke about how the pandemic must be making lots of people feel especially lonely and wanted to find a way to help. In his own words you are never too old to make a difference and Captain Tom or Sir Captain Tom as he will now be known will be one of the lasting memories and has certainly in more ways than one proved to be probably the tale of inspiration and hope that everyone needed.

Sir Tom is writing two books to help raise funds for his Foundation, one an autobiography and the other a children’s book. I am sure that these books will continue to help the charity money roll in.

I am sure that when the current situation changes and the visit to the Palace can take place, the nation will be joining the Queen in thanking him and awarding him one of our greatest honours. Arise Sir Tom….
