Caring residents came to the rescue of an Essex lady when the van she used to help run a number of different clubs in the area was stolen. The van, belonging to Sue Ospreay, was parked in Bethnal Green East London whilst she supported a local event. When she left, her van had gone and there has been no success in tracing it.
Sue uses the van on a daily basis to run local community events including drama clubs, clean-up campaigns and the annual remembrance service and summer and festive fairs.
The vehicle was full of equipment that she was taking to her next engagement, which was rehearsals for the Cinderella pantomime.
Sue was devastated as the van is a lifeline to lots of local people. Those same local people then came to her rescue by setting up a Just Giving page and have so far raised nearly £3,000 towards the cost of replacing the van and equipment. It is hoped that this, along with the insurance money will get her back up and running in no time at all.
Sue said “It is really lovely and does make you realise that people do care about everything you do”.
